The Chantepleures – I heart San Diego

Fairly chilled and tastefully effervescent pop via Great Britain. This is perfect for summer coastal sunsets with some good friends reminiscing; thoroughly enjoying the vibe. I hear echoes from Richard Butler of The Psychadelic Furs and the jangle-core of one of my favorite bands from Hershey, PA: The Ocean Blue. Thanks to The Chantepleures for animating my psyche on this another sleep-deprived day!

Yes, I do love San Diego.

Feels Like Heaven

Heartbreak Girl

The San Diego indie band, The Chantepleures, features Brent Felix (guitar and vocals), Noelle Felix (bass and vocals), and brothers Jared Mattson (lead guitar), and Jonathan Mattson (drums). Taking their name from an obscure French word that means “one who sings and weeps at the same time”, the foursome met in the summer of 2011 in San Diego and quickly became good friends.

Sharing a love of bands such as The Smiths, Cocteau Twins and The Stone Roses, the group soon began rehearsing music together. By winter, the four absconded to a cabin in Lake Arrowhead for a long weekend of recording and mixing. Their debut EP “Feels Like Heaven” is currently undergoing final mixing & mastering.
