Shakey Graves – Word of Mouth (live)
Not much to say on ‘Shakey Graves’, but if you like Americana and roots type folk music, then this is a very nice find. Check out the music and ‘name your price’ at bandcamp.
If you need an album to pull at your wanderlust heart-strings of the folk-kind this summer, definitely give a listen to Roll The Bones by the Austin-based Shakey Graves, also known as one gentlemen called Alejandro Rose-Garcia. Something incredible happened to me when I pressed play to the first of its tracks, “Unlucky Skin” – I was instantaneously captured; mainly because, if you know me well enough, you will know that the sound of the banjo speaks to me in more languages than one. Alejandro’s voice suddenly wove itself into the lickity-taps of the banjo’s mountainous imagery and melted it’s harmonies perfectly onto the relaxed, soulful shiver of the track. But this was only the foot to the pedal, the rest of the album is a road trip everyone should definitely take.
