Mitten – “See You Bye”

The Brooklyn, NY scene is way too cool. There are so many good bands and artists in residence there that it is joyfully displacing Athens, GA as the Indie capital of the WORLD. I used to always joke, “I’m smitten by kittens!” now I can honestly proclaim, “I’m smitten by Mitten!” May they keep growing and become the super group that is in their DNA. Hey, have you run across Brooklyn’s patron saint yet? Sufjan Stevens of course! Duh, as my 5-year-old says in her best Valley Girl impersonation.

Mitten – Similar Sense

We’re a new electro/indie/pop band from Brooklyn who spend a lot of time on the bus back and forth to Boston (long story). Mitten is Maia & Joanna (plus our live drummer, Ryan) – we’re bonded by a shared love of scotch and rhythm.

We played our first show in September opening for JD Samson/Men, Tayisha Busay, and The Shondes, followed by packed shows at Union Hall, Lit Lounge, Bar 4, and PAs Lounge (Boston).

The album, See You Bye, is 6 songs and will be released in a few weeks. We wrote, recorded, produced, and mixed it ourselves in Joanna’s office. Most of the lyrics were written on the aforementioned Boston bus.
